Japanese food is one of my favorite! I like the clean and simple flavors, but most of all, I really like the look of it. Most Japanese food are so delicate looking so they make me feel like I’m having an elegant meal everytime.
I would love to have Japanese food at least couple times a week but they are pretty expensive. So I decided to make it myself. It is so much cheaper and easy to make.

Direction: Cucumber Crabmeat Roll
1. Steam rice and let it cool. Cut avocado thin, slice cucumber with a peeler, and shred crab meat (use fingers).
2. Place crab meat into a bowl and add couple spoons of mayo, wasabi, little salt and pepper. (I used 2 crab meat, 2 Tbs of mayo, 1/4 tsp of wasabi paste)
3. Make little rice balls. Check this link for detail Rice ball.
4. Wrap thinly sliced cucumber around rice ball.
5. Put crabmeat+mayo on top of each rice ball.
6. Serve with soysauce+wasabi for dipping.

I used peeler to slice cucumber. It is a best way to make it as thin as possible.
My avocado weren’t too thin. If you can, try making them really thin.
See? Thin cucumber slices wrap really easy.

For Avocado roll, I wrapped cucumber first and put avocado slices on top.
I served two rolls with salad and miso soup.
They were delicious. I mean, they were better than some Japanese restaurants I’ve been to. You should try this at home for a brunch or dinner OR even a party. These can be awesome finger food menu and will definately brighten up your table!
